Configuring a Migration

The Migrations page lists all the migrations configured in your project. Each migration defines a mapping between a source connection and a target connection, and controls exactly what content gets migrated and how it is mapped.

Use the search field at the top of the list to find a migration by name.

Create a migration

Click Create and fill in the following:

Field	Required	Description
Name	Yes	A unique display name for this migration.
Description	No	Optional notes.
Source connection	Yes	The environment to migrate from. Must be a Qlik NPrinting or Qalyptus Server connection.
Target connection	Yes	The environment to migrate to. Must be a Qalyptus Server or Qalyptus Cloud connection.

Click Save. The migration is created and default mappings are automatically populated for apps, reports, tasks, and security roles. The migration detail view opens on the Overview tab.

Migration tabs

Overview

Displays and lets you edit the migration name and description. The source and target connections are shown but cannot be changed after the migration is created.

Apps / Projects

This tab lists the active applications (NPrinting) or projects (Qalyptus Server) available from the source connection. In NPrinting, all reports, filters, and tasks belong to an application. In Qalyptus, they belong to a project. Each source app maps to one project in the target environment.

Default values:

• Migrate: Yes
• Target organization: The default organization in the target environment ("Qalyptus")

Filtering and display:

• Search apps by name.
• Filter by migration status ("Migrate" / "Not migrate").
• Enable Show original name to display an extra column with the original source name alongside the customized name.

Actions per app:

• Migrate / Not migrate - Toggle whether this app is included in the migration.

• Edit - Customize the settings for this app:

  Setting	Description
  Name	The project name to use in Qalyptus (defaults to the source app name).
  Description	Optional custom description.
  Target organization	The organization in the target environment to create the project in.
  Owner	Available when the target is Qalyptus Cloud. Defaults to the user associated with the target API key.

Qlik Apps

This tab is only visible when the target connection is Qalyptus Cloud.

When migrating to Qalyptus Cloud, each NPrinting or Qalyptus Server connection used in your reports must be mapped to an existing Qlik Sense application in the target Qlik Sense tenant. This is required because application IDs differ between Qlik Sense environments.

The tab lists all connections referenced by the reports in the current migration. Use the search field and the mapping status filter to find unmapped connections quickly.

By default, no connections are mapped. Click Edit next to a connection to select the corresponding Qlik Sense application:

• Applications are listed by name and Space, sorted alphabetically.
• You can search by name within the list.
• Click Save once an application is selected.

warning

All connections must be mapped before you can run the migration. The migration will not start if any connection is unmapped.

Reports

Lists all active reports belonging to the active apps/projects shown in the Apps tab. Reports marked as PixelPerfect or QlikEntity are not supported in Qalyptus and cannot be migrated (their Migrate value is locked to "No" and a compatibility warning is displayed).

Filtering and display:

• Search reports by name.
• Filter by migration status or by app/project.
• Enable Show original name to display the original source name.

Actions per report:

• Migrate / Not migrate - Toggle inclusion in the migration (not available for incompatible report types).

• Edit - Customize:

Tasks

Lists all active tasks belonging to the active apps/projects in the Apps tab.

Only publish-type tasks are supported.

Filtering and display:

• Search tasks by name.
• Filter by migration status or by app/project.
• Enable Show original name to display the original source name.

Actions per task:

• Migrate / Not migrate - Toggle inclusion.

• Edit - Customize:

  Description	Optional custom description.
  Owner	Available when the target is Qalyptus Cloud.

Security Roles

This tab is only visible when the source is Qlik NPrinting and the target is Qalyptus Server.

Lists all active security groups from the NPrinting source and their corresponding target role in Qalyptus Server. All roles are migrated by default and this cannot be changed.

Default role mappings:

NPrinting role	Qalyptus Server role
Administrator	Administrators
Developer	Developers
NewsStand User	Hub users
Any other role	Hub users

Click Edit on a custom role to assign it to a specific custom role in Qalyptus Server. The available target roles are those that have not already been assigned to another source role.

The Edit action is disabled for the built-in Administrator, Developer, and NewsStand User roles.

If you want to map custom NPrinting roles to custom Qalyptus Server roles, create the target roles in Qalyptus Server before running the migration. Otherwise, custom roles will be migrated and associated with the default "Hub user" permissions.
