Getting Started with Qalyptus Migration Tool
Prerequisites
Before using Qalyptus Migration Tool, ensure the following requirements are met depending on your migration path:
For all migrations:
- Qalyptus Migration Tool installed on a Windows machine.
- Network access from the machine running the tool to both the source and target environments.
Migrating from Qlik NPrinting:
- JWT authentication must be enabled in Qlik NPrinting. This requires an SSL certificate with a public/private key pair. The public key is registered in NPrinting's settings; you will provide the private key to the Migration Tool when creating the connection.
- An NPrinting user account with the Administrator or Developer role, or a custom role with the Edit template permission.
Migrating from Qalyptus Server:
- An API key generated in Qalyptus Server. See User Profile.
- The user associated with the API key must have the Administrator role.
Migrating to Qalyptus Cloud:
- An API key generated in Qalyptus Cloud.
- The Qalyptus Cloud tenant must already be connected to a Qlik Sense tenant. See the Qlik Sense integration guide.
- If you plan to assign different content owners, those users must have already synchronized their Qlik Sense applications in their Qalyptus Cloud profile before you run the migration.
Installation
Download the Qalyptus Migration Tool installer from the Qalyptus customer portal and run it. No additional configuration is needed after installation.
The tool is available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Brazilian Portuguese. The interface language is selected from the application settings. Light and dark display modes are both supported; Light mode is applied by default.
Project files
All migration configuration is stored in a project file with the .qmt extension. Project files contain your connections, migration settings, and mappings. Changes are saved automatically as you work.
A single project file can contain multiple connections and multiple migrations.
Create a new project
When you launch the application, the Recent Files page is displayed. Click New to create a new project. A Save dialog opens — choose a name and location for the .qmt file.
Open an existing project
Click Open to browse for an existing .qmt file, or click any entry in the recent files list to reopen it directly.
The recent files list shows up to 10 recent projects, displaying the project name and file path for each. Right-clicking an entry provides additional options.
File menu (top-left)
The top-left menu provides the following actions:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| New | Close the current project and create a new one |
| Open | Close the current project and open an existing .qmt file |
| Recent files | Browse the last 10 opened projects |
| Save as | Save the current project to a new location |
Next steps
Once you have created a project file, the next step is to configure your connections to the source and target environments.
