Migrate to another machine
You may want to install Qalyptus on another machine and migrate your content and license.
This article explains how to install Qalyptus on a new machine and transfer your work and license.
Migrate Qalyptus Server to another machine
To migrate Qalyptus Server to another machine, follow these steps:

Install the same version of Qalyptus Server on the new machine
We recommend upgrading your current Qalyptus Server to the latest version, then installing the same version on the target machine.Note: When installing Qalyptus Server on the new machine, you must use the same database username used during the installation of your current Qalyptus Server instance. If you don't remember it, please contact Qalyptus Support for assistance.

Create a backup of your current Qalyptus Server instance

Copy the backup file to the target machine
Important: The backup file path must not contain spaces. -
Restore your Qalyptus data
Use the backup file to restore your data on the new Qalyptus Server instance. -
Copy configuration and content directories
From the current machine, copy the following directories to the same paths on the new machine:C:\ProgramData\Qalyptus\QalyptusHub\
C:\ProgramData\Qalyptus\QalyptusServer\Projects\
C:\ProgramData\Qalyptus\QalyptusServer\Templates\

Migrate your license
When you install Qalyptus Server, you automatically receive a free 30-day license. Before it expires, contact the Qalyptus Support team to migrate your existing license to the new machine.
Your message should include the Server ID of the new machine, which you can find in Administration > License.
If your Qalyptus Desktop connections are configured to use the current Windows user (the Qlik Sense user field is empty in the connection), you must install Qalyptus Server on the new machine with an admin user that has the same Qlik Sense permissions as the one used in your current installation. This ensures that your tasks will run correctly.
Migrate Qalyptus Desktop to another machine
To migrate Qalyptus Desktop:

Access your project files
Make sure you can access your Qalyptus project files (.qtr
) from the new machine. Copy them over if they are not stored in a shared repository. -
Reconnect to Qalyptus Server
- Open Qalyptus Desktop and go to Settings > My account.
- Click Disconnect account to disconnect from the current Qalyptus Server instance.
- Enter the new Qalyptus Server instance URL (with the port, example: https://server.local:3994) and click Connect.
- You will be redirected to Qalyptus Server for authentication.

Activate your license
- If you are using the same Windows account as before, use the same license key to activate Qalyptus Desktop. You can find the license key in your email inbox or in your Qalyptus Customer Account. You may also ask your administrator to retrieve it.
- If you are using a different Windows account, please contact the Qalyptus Support team to obtain a valid license key for this new user. Your message should include the Windows user domain and username, which you can find in Qalyptus Desktop > Settings > License > Owner.
