How to upgrade

Qalyptus is frequently updated to offer new features, improvements, and bug fixes. It is essential to upgrade your Qalyptus instances to benefit from the recent improvements.

To upgrade Qalyptus, we recommend following the steps below to upgrade Qalyptus Desktop first and then Qalyptus Server.

Qalyptus Desktop​

  • Read the release notes of the version.
  • Download the new version of Qalyptus Desktop.
  • Install the new version Qalyptus Desktop. Choose the same installation folder.
  • Read the release notes, and if there are some, consider instructions to benefit from the changes.
  • Make tests and ensure that there are no regressions.
  • If everything is OK, go to the Qalyptus Server upgrade.

Qalyptus Server​

  • Read the release notes of the version.
  • Create a backup in your Qalyptus Server instance.
  • Download the new version of Qalyptus Server.
  • Install the new version Qalyptus Server as standard installation to upgrade. Choose the same installation folder. Qalyptus will keep your data.
  • Check if everything works as expected without regressions.

If you have a non-production server, we recommend you upgrade Qalyptus Server in this environment before upgrading the production instance to avoid any risk of regressions.
